Four programmes have been designed to help councils with recruitment and to support professionals return to work after a career break.
The LGA and Government Equalities Office have collaborated to release four return to work programmes to help councils fill their employment vacancies and help people return to work following a career break.
If you are currently out of work and want to return to your chosen profession or change careers, these programmes can help you. Each one has been carefully designed to support your return to work and will provide you with training, placements and/or networking opportunities with councils. Eligibility requirements vary between each programme.
If you are a council, these programmes will run a national recruitment drive on your behalf and help you meet professionals that are committed to returning to work with fresh ideas and experiences.

Return to Work - ICT
A programme offering free training in ICT to help experienced ICT professionals and people changing careers to return to work following a break.
Return to Work - Planning
A programme designed to support experienced planners to return to work in local government following a career break.
Return to Work - Legal
A scheme giving experienced barristers, solicitors and legal executives the opportunity to explore job vacancies with councils.
