Be a Labour Councillor: A guide for disabled members and local parties

published by LGA Labour group

13 March 2015

This guide is for disabled members and those running local parties, organising campaigning and events and thinking about making meetings more accessible. It has been produced in consultation with disabled members and particularly on guidance produced by both Disability Labour (the Labour Party's affiliate group for disabled members) and the Local Government Association.

The Guide is divided into three sections:

Part One (Getting involved) contains advice and action points for disabled people thinking about becoming more politically active or standing in local elections;

Part Two outlines advice and action points for local activists and parties to help them make what they do accessible to everybody as well as do more to encourage disabled members to become active and stand;

Part Three lists useful organisations and websites.
