What is the aim of this library?

The aim of this library is two-fold, to enable commissioners to access materials and information:

  • More quickly and easily than is currently the case
  • That is of use to them and which they would not otherwise have been aware

The structure of the library mirrors the four priority areas of the commissioning and markets workstream of the Care and Heath Improvement Programme (jointly delivered by LGA and ADASS).

The structure and language is an appropriate reflection of how councils typically approach their commissioning activity and how regional and national organisations support them in doing so.

Unless explicitly stated, CHIP is not promoting the use of any individual resources in this library, but is bringing this together in an accessible format so councils can make their own decision on what material is relevant to them and what they will use to inform their local practice. Materials are typically listed under each heading in order of date of publish / release, beginning with the most recent.

In addition to the wide variety of guidance, data sets, reports and other resources contained within this library, there are a wide range of Commissioning case studies which are available to review on the LGA website.

This resource library will be continually updated and expanded, so that it is as relevant and comprehensive as possible. If your council or any other organisation working within the sector has any feedback or would be interested in submitting a case study or a link to further information, please contact us at Marketsandcommissioning@local.gov.uk
